Vintage Vixen of the Week: Iman

"When everyone is telling you "You're so beautiful, there's nobody like you," you begin to think it's true. But of course there is nobody like you. I just believed it for the wrong reasons."

Somalian beauty, business mogul, wife, mom, and philanthropist theres not much she hasn't done! Discovered in 1973 at the age of 18 by Photographer Peter Beard, she quickly rose to fame after signing to the Wilhelmina Agency landing her first spread in Vogue. She became the muse for major fashion houses including  Versace, Donna Karen and especially Yves Saint-Laurent.

After a 14 year career, she began her Iman Cosmetics line in 1994 as a response to the challanges women of color faced while shopping for shades of foundation.  With her knowledge and input, Iman Cosmetics has grown into a $20 million plus a year grossing company. She also has a successful line on the Home Shopping Network inspired by her native land entitled the Global Chic Collection which is one of HSN best sellers.

She is married to rockstar David Bowie (since 1992) and is the mother to two daughters. She is still very active in the industry and devotes most of her time to her philanthropic efforts serving as spokeswoman and ambassador for both Keep a Child Alive and Save The Children. Plus she's still got it looking as stunning as she did in the prime of her career!

Keep up with me!
