What I Wore: Playful Summer

Summer is always a nostalgic time of year! My completely thrifted look had me feeling like a kid again! Details after the jump!

Its Summer time here in Hotlanta or its more like a Georgia Scorcher. I mean somedays its so hot you can barely breathe! And don't get me started on the humidity! But one of the things I love about the Summer is the memories! For me, it's always been the season of freedom and fun. A time where you get with family and friends for barbecues, celebrate the moms and dads in your life, and enjoy the sunshine.
As an adult you have twice as much fun as you add the addition of day drinking and parties but you don't have the same freedom to just chill everyday. But I do find freedom in fashion!
In Fall and Winter, you get to layer all your favorites. In Spring, you get your florals and pretty dresses. But in Summer, you get short shorts and sandals! Theres nothing more freeing than the wind hitting your legs and toes! And while shorts and sandals can be a little casual, I was able to jazz it up with some inspiration from my childhood.

My mother frequently dressed me during the Summer months in cute shorts and cropped peasant tops accompanied by Keds or cute sandals. Those memories were the inspiration for this look. My mom herself even had a pair of these sandals (which were only $.50) when she was a teen! Thats what I love about vintage! Like music, it takes us back to a place in life we loved.
The entire look is thrifted and less than $8!

So have you ladies been inspired by any looks from a previous time in life? Share with me in the comments!
